Abstract: This study compares in-hospital versus out-of-hospital acute myocardial infarction (AMI) cases, focusing on non-ST-segment myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). It found that 11% of AMI cases were in-hospital, with in-hospital patients being older and having more comorbidities. In-hospital AMI was a predictor of 30-day mortality. Among NSTEMI cases, 14% were in-hospital, and these patients were more likely to be older than 75 and have additional health issues. Two-thirds of in-hospital AMI patients received invasive treatment, which was associated with lower 30-day mortality. Factors influencing conservative treatment included older age, higher heart rate, heart failure, and STEMI history. The study concludes that differences between in-hospital and out-of-hospital STEMI also apply to NSTEMI, with invasive interventions reducing mortality risk.
